A Very Good Friday, it is!

This is my first time to post for Fertilizer Friday and Weekend Flowers! I have this Friday are Don Manuel, Daisy and Rain Lilies.

First in line are photos of my Don Manuel or
Hamelia Patens. This is commonly known as Fire Bush or Scarlet Bush (reference). If you visit the cited webpage, you will find some interesting facts about Don Manuel. Given its other name, Ix-canan, it is said that this plant was considered as the "guardian of the forest" among the Mayans! Maybe because, the Scarlet Bush or Don Manuel is naturally medicinal in nature. The plant has several medicinal uses such as Anti-bacterial, Wound-healing and Anti-diarrheal. This is beside the fact that its fruit is edible! This is one of my favorite yellow-orange flowering plant in the garden...but well...every plant in the garden is my favorite anyway! Below are some photos of my Don Manuel.

One of my Daisy plants or Gerbera Jamesonii (not sure) are also in bloom today! And surprisingly, this is also the first time I saw the color of its flower! I got this Daisy and her siblings around two months ago with no flowers, so I have to wait and see them bloom to determine their particular flower colors. The flower got drenched in the rain...sorry for the very haggard look.

Lastly, most of my purple Rain Lilies or Zephyranthes Rosea are also in bloom today! These plants are very easy...I would like to call them as a "plug and play" plant! However, they really need a lot of rain to bloom. Luckily, for them, our region is experiencing non-stop rainfalls since last week! So today, they gave me a very big surprise.

Pretty blooms, James. Lucky you and your rain lilies. The weather has been favoring you of late.

Not exactly Sir Bom...I had to fix some wiring and covers in the garden damaged by the storm. But those Rain lily blooms are consolations to me! haha! Thanks.
