Yucca-razy? Yes I am!

My Yucca cutting is starting to leaf-out! I had three cuttings of these from our friendly neighbor when they "trimmed" down their tree. I am not really sure though if this is a member of the Yucca family. But whatever it is, I am very glad I did something extraordinary! Here are some photos of the cuttings.

My Senior Member: Red Hibiscus (Gumamela)

One of my oldest living plant in the garden is a Red Hibiscus or Gumamela in Filipino. I really love the big blooms it gives us all through out the year. It blooms almost every day! Sometimes it it attacked by the white monsters and suffers from yellowing leaves, but with simple grooming, my Red Gumamela survives and continuously shows off her great red blooms. Here are some of its recent photos taken from her new home.

Gardening...Kahapon, Ngayon at Magpakailanman (Gardening...Yesterday, Today and Forever)

Another half of a year has passed and still….I have not written anything new in my blog. But today, is a very special day because…I am writing a new post! Hehehe!

I am excited to inform you that I got hooked on doing a little more sophisticated gardening activity in the middle of writing and “finalizing” my thesis about a year ago. In the past, my gardening can be described in two words, “simple joys”……I buy plants, and in couple of days or weeks...they go to plant heaven. Three years ago, I managed to buy a white plumeria in a local nursery. Sadly, I wasn’t able to take a photo of that plant. I was also able to gather a number of plumeria cuttings from our friendly neighbors who trimmed their plants during the rainy season during that time. I intended to have these cuttings grow and bloom, to be ready for some breeding action with my white plumeria. But once again, my white plumeria died from root rot, caused by the excessive rain and a very small drainage hole. After three years, my parents allowed me to take a very small area of the garden for my own. This sparked a very expensive but very rewarding hobby. For one year, I started developing the small area, filling it with different kinds of plants! You will find below some of the photos I took while tending my garden(then).

That's it for today! I'll post some of my other photos next time. Happy gardening!
